Water Baptized when I was 27.

How did a failure set you up to have success being a missionary at work?

As a Missionary, I am responsible for raising my own financial support. I was scared to raise my support for many years. As a matter of fact from 1999 until the Summer of 2019. I hate to admit that, but I am just being transparent. My failure is allowing the enemy and fear to cripple me and not believe that I could raise the support. But God helped me to see that it was not me raising the support, but Him placing the desire to give to the mission of the ministry, it freed me. Yes, I had to set up appointments and do the work, but God raised my full support in 10 weeks, normally it takes 6 to 12 months. God took my biggest fear and crushed it.

What’s a Bible verse that you want to share with your fellow workplace missionaries? Why?

Matthew 28:19-20

New International Version

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

This is not an option, or “I will do it if I feel like it.” This is an order or better yet an assignment that Jesus gave to all of us. We get the privilege of being the hands and feet of Jesus. We get the privilege of showing the love of Christ to others. We get the privilege of being Jesus with skin on to others. I am honored and humbled that Jesus sees something in me and entrusts me to carry the message to others. Here is the great secret, “He sees something in you to go and be like Jesus and take the message of Jesus to others. Train them like Jesus did and send them forth.”

If you could tell the CEOs of the biggest companies in the world one sentence about Jesus, what would it be?

Jesus does not care about your financial reports, buildings or products, He cares about you and your heart. He longs to talk with you.

What’s the best spiritual investment you’ve made?

In my three kids, they have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They have all started serving in ministry at young ages. They are now 19, 17 and 16 years of age. They started when they were 14, 12 and 11. They are changers, discipleship makers and will pass this wisdom of Jesus on to their generation and future generations.

What seed planting tip would you share with your fellow workplace missionaries?

Be real and transparent with people. Be consistent with people. If you say you’re going to do something for someone, follow through. People really don’t care what you know or what you can do for them. People want to know if you can get into the ditch with them and be with them. If people see that you want to break bread with them. Can you do life with people and love them. If you show people that you love them and not using them for personal gain, to build your church numbers or whatever ministry number that you are trying to use to impress others; people will go to the ends of the world for you.

What would you tell young Christians who are entering the workforce for the first time?

Stay grounded in the Word, stay connected to a local church and stay connected on a weekly basis to a grounded mature Christian mentor. The workforce that is not founded on Jesus can have the possibility of negatively influencing your daily walk. The Word will guide you and keep you grounded on the truth. Accountability helps you stay on the right path.

When you find yourself focusing on worldly things, what do you do to refocus on following Jesus?

I get into the Word. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. The Word points out if I have steered off the path and the Word guides me back. The Word gives me discernment, guidance and correction when I need it.
